Under the cover of low, grey clouds and standing on a street corner lacerated with rain in West Seattle is Snap, a young man staring up at the downpour and thinking about how turkeys sometimes drown themselves by doing the same thing. His muscles lurch, everything in his body wanting the thing the man sells on 3rd and Pike downtown …
In the stars, far away from Snap and his problems, Mother Nature exits her steaming bathroom with her hair wrapped in a towel. Outside, The Sun’s orange and red ‘70s cadillac is parked right next to The Moon’s midnight blue ‘70s cadillac. Both are here to prove how much they love her, but …
As The Rain Falls by Sam Plauche is an exploration of modern day Seattle through the drug addicted youthful eyes of his protagnist Snap, who battles the desire to get clean with his desire for any sort of release all while circumnavigating the social complexities of friends, of lovers, and of gangsters who may or may not want to kill you. Meanwhile, somewhere in the stars, Mother Nature pours herself a cup of tea, unaware of the issues afflicting the young man as she is caught up in her battle between her own lovers and the clientele of the cafe she baristas at off of Asteriod Belt Way SW.
